Re: Silver Hamburg?
I just googled silver pencilled hamburg and got onto a website in Aussie called Blue Hills Poultry - they breed silver pencilled Hamburgs, I must say the patterning is similar to a pic where they show a silver pencilled wing stretched out? I guess I will just have to wait and see, will take another ...

Re: Silver Hamburg?
yes Kracka, I had the silver Spangled Hamburgs locked up too for three weeks or more before I started incubating the eggs. It has to be a purebred. I have gold pencilled hamburgs too, but everything gets locked up in their individual breeds for the breeding season, apart from that they free - range ...

Re: Silver Hamburg?
she started off looking like that but has now developed into what looks like a bizarre black and white patterning. All the other eggs are pure, and this one definitely is too as the chickens were shut away for several weeks, with the rooster before I started taking the eggs for incubation. Maybe whe...

Eprinex for chickens
here's something intersting, having had an issue with crawlies on my chickens, not sure whether bought in by purchased birds that had originally been isolated, or from wild birds, it got bad enough for me to notice tht my chickens were looking a little anaemic, so I decided to try something. I wiped...

Re: thunder storms and eggs
I lost almost 100 eggs dues to thunder, hail, lightning, I was told tha tthe thunder and lightning takes the air out of the air sac? not usr if it's true or not, but they were fine until the big storm that hit Ashburton a while ago, nothing survived, had to start again.

Re: Black Minorca - loss of feathers
sadly he just faded away until we had to deal with him in a humane way, not sure what it was def not any creepy rawlies, but he literally just faded away to almost nothing, it's very strange. Fortunately I managed to breed some lovely chickens from him this season, they are all fine and doing well.

Re: Araucana and colours
Hi Valleygirl, I too have Araucanas, and I'm getting some intersting results from breeding what I thought were Lavender Araucanas. the first season (last year) produced two black hens (with brown fronts) and a lovely black rooster. I understand the black hens with brown fronts are called "splas...

Re: Black Minorca - loss of feathers
he doesnt appear to have mites at all, but he just stands there and lets another Minorca hen peck out his feathers, he is losing weight, doesn't seem interested in food but he did enjoy some dog roll, he is quite thin, his comb has flopped over whereas when i got him it was lovely and upright, not a...

I do't know of any up there, but I breed both golds and silvers, have bred almost 30 chicks - gold this season, and 7 silvers, two of which are sold. so I have some golds available for sale if anyone wants to buy some, some are a bit young yet although they are free ranging outside now.

Re: nz poultry standards wanted
Hi everyone, the new poultry standards are out now and I took delivery of mine at the Christmas BBQ for the Ashburton Fanciers club yesterday, they are awesome - I got the ring binder variety.
